Melissa McCann is the Graduate Professional Council Treasurer. In that role she oversees the funding for GPC Meetings, as well as, our Social, Community Service, Civic Engagement and Academic & Professional Development Programming. Melissa is a PhD Mechanical Engineering Student in the McKelvey School of Engineering.
Melissa is a first year PhD student in the Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science Department. She graduated from WashU in December 2019 with an MS degree in Materials Science and Engineering where she was subsequently awarded the Dean’s Select Fellowship to continue her doctoral studies. Her research interests pertain to integrating electronic cooling materials into sustainable energy design to mitigate heat fluctuations. This is an effort to create a sustainable energy future by exploring new techniques for making energy systems more efficient, less costly, and available to all.
