Please join Graduate Students with Children for the kick off event for Student Parents Awareness Week: Bring Your Kid to Campus Day on Monday April 10th! Help us change WashU culture and normalize the existence of student parents on campus by making your kid(s) a part of grad student life on that day. There are a few options for including your child in your activities:
1) Bring your school-age kid(s) (5+; use your best judgement) to class with you! You must obtain permission from faculty prior, or, if you want to bring your child(ren) to a class you’re teaching, get an OK from the department chair.
2) We will host a CAMPUS TOUR for kids (and parents, if they wish to participate) 4-5pm. Meet in the Liberman Grad Center (DUC 300) at 4pm SHARP. We will drop in on Dean Ashley Macrander at the Graduate School to chat about what she does at WashU, and will then head down to the Emerson Theatre for a backstage tour! We’ll wrap up with a tour of the Kemper Art Museum.
3) Show your kids some fun spots on campus! The following list should get you started:
Biology building (bones on display)
East Asian Library in January Hall
The “fun room” in the DUC
Kemper Art Museum
Center for Diversity and Inclusion (could also turn into a visit of the library?)
We’ll visit a few of these on the guided tour as well.
